The Bitcoin Podcast #219: Andreas Antonopoulos

This episode we discuss the wide array of wallets and why you should, or should not, own multiple versions. There's no "one size fits all" Bitcoin wallet. Wallets come on different platforms with different features, so we felt this was an important topic to dive into. In addition, we chat with Andreas Antonopoulos, who swings by for a fourth time to hang out with us. We've watched dozens of his interviews over the years and they still blow our minds. No one else we've seen comes close to this level of articulation when it comes to the future of crypto. Strap in!

The Bitcoin Podcast #218: Saifedean Ammous

This week, the price is so bonkers the boys can't ignore it any longer. What is pushing the price down? Is it market cycles, ETF discussions, or perhaps it is because ICOs have sold nearly 100,000 ETH in the past 30 days? In addition to that we chat a bit about mass adoption and how hardware awareness can attribute to that. For instance, the new Grid+ Lattice provides a technical solution to not only use cryptocurrencies with automated systems, but also creates a hardware/software system that enables a non-technical person, say my mother, to safely and easily participate in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Lastly, swinging by the studio is Dr. Saifedean Ammous to chat about his new book. And it comes from a well researched scholarly point of view without the highly technical details of bitcoin that are beyond the grasp of many of us. Saifedean’s work provides a wealth of information and a much needed foundation for multiple future in-house debates within the bitcoin maximalist community.

TBP Announcements: Fr8 Network

Today we talk with Jon Fox and Sloane Brakeville. The Fr8 Network is helping solve the final mile. Using lean startup methods like robust hypothesis testing and establishing clear KPIs, Fr8 Network is testing the protocol using the Ethereum platform for final mile shipments. The Fr8 Network team began by analyzing common final mile data and discovering common requirements for arrival windows, acceptance of delivery requirements, transfer of legal ownership of goods, and payment requirements, etc. The team also tracked regulatory requirements when shipping items such as medicine and perishable goods. This ensured the highest cybersecurity was built into transaction processors. The analysis leads to the first instance of the Fr8 Protocol, specifically defined to service the challenges of the final mile. Once the standards were documented, the Fr8 Coordination Platform was built. The first version of the Fr8 Coordination Platform will consist of the Fr8 Board, the Fr8 Cockpit, the Fr8 Browser Extension, the Fr8 Carrier App, and ancillary services. The applications serve as critical tools to complete a reference use case of helping the final mile trucking delivery challenges. Enjoy! Link: https://fr8.network/

TBP Announcements: Deedcoin

Today we talk with Matthew Herrick from Deedcoin. Deedcoin is easy to understand. With Deedcoin, you save 80% or more on real estate commissions, thats about 5% of the total price of ANY property. Users don’t need many Deedcoin per home because Deedcoin is not used to pay for homes. Deedcoin is used to reduce the commission on the purchase or sale of a property down to 1%. Just imagine you are selling your first million dollar home. Standard commission would be 6%, thats $60,000 taken from your pocket using the old real estate system. Now lets look at the same transaction with Deedcoin. Using Deedcoin, you save 83%, keeping $50,000 more in your pocket. During the Token Launch Event, purchasers will receive1,000 Deedcoin for each $1,500 contributed, thats $1.50 per Deedcoin. Deedcoin revolutionizes the real estate industry by enhancing our existing Deedcoin platform and nationwide network of partnered local agents. Using Deedcoin is simple, every 10 Deedcoin save 1% of the price of the property, to a maximum of 5%. This leaves a flat 1% left in commission for licensed full real estate service. Deedcoin uses innovative technology backed by a patent pending system (App. No. 62/552,038) to improve efficiency and transactional security to reshape the industry nationwide. The efficiency of the Deedcoin network allow real estate transactions to operate at a cost of just 1%, allowing a savings of 5% nationwide. The technology behind Deedcoin gives you the same local agents and service that you have come to expect at a savings of up to 83%. It only takes five minutes to utilize Deedcoin's online platform to realize maximum savings on any property. Deedcoin uses blockchain technology to decentralize real estate commissions, giving the power back to property owners in the real estate market. The team behind Deedcoin includes licensed real estate agents. The first Deedcoin brokerage is already open. Enjoy! Link: https://www.deedcoin.com/

TBP #207 - Haseeb Qureshi

If you work in payments fraud, you get an appreciation for the weaknesses of our financial infrastructure. Really, it’s kind of a mess. As an engineer, when you see a system full of technical debt and bad design choices, there’s only one conclusion you can reach: this thing is due for a rewrite. That, in large part, is what made our guest, Haseeb Qureshi, catch the crypto bug. In June 2017, he decided the blockchain space was too interesting to sit on the sidelines. He said goodbye to Airbnb so I could pursue crypto full-time. Since then he's worked on some security research, did a lot of writing and speaking, and taught a course on cryptocurrencies at the Bradfield School of Computer Science. We have a great chat with Haseeb, amongst other things! In addition, Dee and Cello chat about the 20 Most Influential Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Experts list and pick it apart!

Hashing It Out #8: Mahnush Movahedi

We talk with Mahnush Movahedi of DFINITY to explain the fundamental innovation behind DFINITY's consensus system. She explains how threshold relay works, how groups are determined in consensus, and how cryptographic deterministic randomness drive consensus as a fast and light-weight substitute for Proof of Work. We learn about how this impacts the architecture for state and network protocol design. This episode really shows why Mahnush, a PhD Yale postdoctoral computer scientist with a focus on multiparty computation, would choose DFINITY as the project to join to innovate on consensus protocols. https://dfinity.org/scholarships - DFINITY Scholarship Program https://arxiv.org/abs/1805.04548 - DFINITY Consensus System

TBP #204 - Chris DeRose

Real Diversity in Blockchain - What does it takes and does it matter? This is a simple episode to cover a discussion to show female visibility and community in a field that’s known for combining the worst aspects of the finance and tech industries into a bro-y culture of shallow greed, sexism, pump-and-dump schemes, and crime. The main takeaway is that blockchain is a fundamental enabling technology which may be harnessed for any number of goals.

TBP #203 - Gilbert Darrell

It's smack-dab in the middle of Consensus 2018 and we give our thoughts. Snoop Dogg and Lambos. And I thought crypto was about building open protocols and stuff. Ah well. Our man Kenn Bosak exposes a scammer on the conference floor and gets kicked out! Also, we chat about Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey reaffirming his bullish stance on Bitcoin and crypto as global payment. We tell him to put his money where his mouth is. In addition, for millions of people around the world, having what many of us consider a basic utility, i.e. good Internet and cell phone service, is unfortunately non-existent. Imagine your life without decent telecom services. You can’t talk to your friends and family. You can’t do simple things like browse the Internet, shop online, send emails or watch Netflix. And let’s not even imagine an emergency and not being able to reach out for help. Gilbert Darrell, Founder of Horizon Communications, has a global vision, and he shares it with us.

TBP #202 - Roger Ver

It's true, we don't talk much about Bitcoin Cash on this podcast. But, one thing is for sure, if you’re familiar with the cryptocurrency space at all, you’ve probably heard of Roger Ver. He was an early proponent of digital currencies who loudly espoused the virtues of Bitcoin back when each unit cost just a few dollars. Sure, Roger Ver is, without doubt, one of the most controversial people within the Crypto community. But his insight is valuable and since his appearance on our podcast back in 2016, a lot has changed. His fork of Bitcoin, use of the Bitcoin.com domain and his stock answers about honoring the original Satoshi White Paper have rightfully opened him up to questioning. Sit back and enjoy!

TBP Announcements: Arweave

Welcome to Announcements with Host No. 2, Demetrick Ferguson, a show that provides you details on current events, upcoming projects in the blockchain space, and token offering details. We are attempting to provide you with details and information from the people who are creating projects, and we are not giving advice. Please do proper due diligence when considering investments. Today we talk with Sam Williams of Arweave.org. A new data storage blockchain protocol based on a novel proof of access consensus mechanism that creates truly permanent data storage for the first time. Now data is finally permanent, low-cost, and truly censorship free. The blockweave is a new distributed ledger, its technological innovations elevating it beyond current blockchains, and positioning it to become the backbone of the $3 trillion data economy. The blockweave revolutionizes the traditional, useless, high-energy output of typical blockchains. The Arweave is based on a new consensus mechanism called ‘proof of access’, which instead of producing the negative externality of high energy consumption, produces a positive externality; that of low-cost, permanent on-chain storage for the very first time. TBP #201 - Kelcey Gosserand

Hey! Just because we are 'Just 3 Guys', doesn't mean we don't believe that women’s access, participation, and leadership are critical in the global emergence of blockchain technology in our 21st century. But at the same time we don't like focusing in one just one sub-group of this space. The perfect guest to swing by is Kelcey who has built a platform dedicated to building the world’s largest community of blockchain professionals and are the creators and organizers of the inaugural ICOnference. Hashing It Out #6: Stuart Popejoy

This week's episode features Stuart Popejoy, founder of the Kadena, creator of the Pact smart contract language, and engineer/designer of the Chainweb blockchain protocol. We go in-depth on design decisions for Pact, how language simplicity impacts the security and adoption of second generation blockchains, how formal verification can be used to improve certainty in smart contracts, and the over-emphasis of Turing completeness for a very domain-specific language such as smart contracts. We go into the design behind Chainweb, an unboundedly scalable Proof of Work blockchain architecture, which expects to reach a whopping 10,000 tx/sec (864,000,000 tx/day) on its first year of release. https://github.com/slpopejoy

We celebrate episode 200! Kenn Bosak gets a tattoo of our logo! WHAT?! Holy shit! We also get an update on the crypto porn community and how bad actors and practices can rewind progression.

An Ethereum Podcast: Episode #13

RocketPool is a mining pool for proof-of-stake Casper. While none of the parameters of Casper are final, a minimum of 1000 ETH has been discussed as a requirement for staking. RocketPool makes staking accessible to non-whales. David and I discuss how he’s architected RocketPool for security of funds and also the devops behind making sure that your node is constantly online. RocketPool will use nodes around the world — but what happens if the data center catches fire where your Ether is staked? I’m also excited that RocketPool is doing a proportional refund cap for their ongoing token sale. I’ve tried to convince more than few sales to do a proportional refund cap, but essentially RocketPool is the first to do a proportional refund cap. Thanks to ConsenSys for making this podcast possible. To learn more visit RocketPool and join their Slack channel.

TBP Announcements: Bankera

Welcome to Announcements with Host No. 2, Demetrick Ferguson, a show that provides you details on current events, upcoming projects in the blockchain space, and token offering details. We are attempting to provide you with details and information from the people who are creating projects, and we are not giving advice. Please do proper due diligence when considering investments. Today we talk with Vytautas Karalevičius from Bankera. Bankera is building a digital bank to last for the blockchain era. As a traditional bank, Bankera's services fit into three groups: Payments including payment accounts with personal IBAN, debit cards, interbank foreign exchange rates and payment processing. All services will support both traditional fiat currencies as well as cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, DASH, NEM, ERC20 compliant tokens and others. In the long term, Bankera will implement innovative solutions such as gross-domestic-product (GDP) linked currencies and the use of exchange traded funds as a substitute for money. Loans and deposits will be a key competitive edge as well as core service of Bankera. Current deposits will receive interest just as savings do. All Bankera clients will be able to benefit from higher interest rates due to proprietary information about borrowers' cash flow, as most loans will be given to business clients who use the payment processing solution. Investments will consist of low-cost investment products such as exchange traded funds (ETFs), crypto-funds (a portfolio of various cryptocurrencies and crypto tokens) as well as roboadvisory solutions for wealth management. Eventually, Bankera will offer investment banking services including financing corporate strategies of our business clients. Enjoy! Link: https://bankera.com/

TBP Announcements: Synapse AI

Today we talk with Dan Gailey from SynapseAI. Until now, people have given their data away to companies in exchange for centralized access to application and services. Examples include uploading and tagging photos, tracking and sharing your location and access to purchase history, to name a few. To provide a fair and balanced intelligence available to all equally, we must create AI economies that any agent can participate in and receive some reward for doing so. Enter Synapse AI. Synapse AI solves this problem by tokenizing an agent's work on the Synapse AI market using SYN utility tokens, thus facilitating an economy between participants and transferring value to those participants. This accelerates a system that grows beyond the means of capacity of any one single company or organization. By opening this data and using machine learning models through decentralized marketplace formats on the blockchain, and by tokenizing contributors, we can create syndicates that provide the greatest benefit to users everywhere. BlockChannel Episode 37: Smart Contracts Everywhere, with Ivy and Chain.com

On this episode of BlockChannel, McKie and Dr. Petty sit down with Boyma Fahnbulleh and Dan Robinson from Chain.com. The two of them worked together to create the Ivy smart contracting language built atop the bitcoin scripting system (shoutout to bcoin.io). Boyma also assisted with the buildout and design of the Ivy smart contract playground as well. Individuals can use the Ivy smart contract high-level language to create contracts using bitcoin scripts; creating a specific, more human-readable version of bitcoin scripts by appending a high level language like Ivy has many implications for both simplifying bitcoin contract development, and for making it easier to educate engineers on how bitcoin scripts actually work (reading C++ all day can be very taxing). Dan doesn’t love Bitcoin Cash though; but that’s okay he’ll come around one day, you know engineers — they’re stubborn. TBP Announcements: DubToken

Today we talk with Fred Dionne from DubDub. As the web becomes increasingly cluttered with out of touch content, invalid traffic and pointless attention based metrics, advertisers, content creators and publishers struggle to find the proper way to reach consumers. A dubtoken is a multi-faceted unit of account offered to members of the IVEP Crypto Association with various utility, consumptive, trust, governance, transfer, growth incentive and loyalty attributes. Its holder has the right and limited license to use the IVEP protocol together with the underlying services offered by the community through a newly introduced decentralized application store (dApp Store). TBP176 - Even More Marketing Discipline

Happy New Year, folks! Let's talk about Marketing in 2018 - lots of topics in this episode as Jeremy Epstein joins us. For example, we talk a bit about what Bitcoin Cash needs to do to increase their marketing efforts. Branding: you need to convince people that a "new product" (Bcash) is worth more than 9 years old recognized one (Bitcoin). There's coins that are cheaper and faster than both the Bitcoin and BCH and didn't succeeded in this mission after years; Branding is an issue. That's why it's going to take promotion and demand from users. All this and more! https://venturebeat.com/author/jeremy-epstein-never-stop-marketing/

TBP172 - Life After Silicon Valley

What does half a trillion dollars of cryptocurrency mean? We've been saying for months now, that 2018 will be the year institutional money starts flooding the Crypto market. It's the next phase of the "bubble" forming patter. Like in the internet boom of the late 90's, we first saw early adopters, institutional money, and finally mass populous adoption and then the bubble burst. We're still very early, straddling the early adopter/institutional money phase. Also Preethi Kasireddy says goodbye to Silicon Valley and says hello to L.A. She has a passion for understanding things at a fundamental level and sharing it as clearly as possible. Oh, and Daniel Baker, fan of the show joins us on the roundtable. Lotta fun!

Monero Monitor: Mimblewimble with Andrew Poelstra

Welcome to a special CROSS EPISODE where this week Monero Monitor does a guest episode on our network. In July 2016, an unknown developer going by the name "Tom Elvis Jedusor" dropped a link to a Tor hidden service on the bitcoin-wizards IRC channel. In it, he revealed a new protocol dubbed "Mimblewimble" after the tongue-tying curse in Harry Potter, because "it is used to prevent the blockchain from talking about all user's information". In the time since, multiple researchers and developers have continued to flesh out and build on Jedusor's innovation, in many respects led by Andrew Poelstra, a Bitcoin developer and mathematician at Blockstream. This deep dive with Andrew covers the technical details of Mimblewimble's scaling and privacy-enhancing features, discusses the real world logistics of using the protocol, and looks at some of the coolest features enabled by the technology. We discuss how Bulletproofs can help both Mimblewimble and Monero better scale, and also touch on how ValueShuffle might further improve privacy in Mimblewimble.

Your only job as a trader is to manage your risk properly, not to tell a story. Fundamentals and valuation are two fields focused on often but what is usually overlooked is the cyclical and mental aspects of trading.
